It's not like I didn't study for the exam. And it's not like I've been idling these past two years and not examining patients during class. I even went outside class hour to do clerking and examination. Maybe there's no such thing as "enough practice", eh? Haha. Okay.
And was it 3 minutes per patient? It felt like 2. Time sure flies. Please God forgive me of all my sins.
But at least no patients died today. Whether it's an oblique or direct hernia, it doesn't change your management. That's what Dr. Shedy said.
Lessons learned:
(1) be meticulous AND QUICK
(2) don't let anyone distract you
(3) trust yourself
(4) never trust a patient's negative
After my first ever Surgery class (Year 5), I vowed to examine at least 50 scrotums before I graduate. Have I reach my goal?
