Patience is a Virtue...

... I seriously lack.

Atiqah Hanifah is volatile with a very short fuse.

Am suppressing them, though.
Really!
So don't worry, you won't have me on your neck.

Just so you know me
so you won't force them on me again.

I am highly irritated when:
failure of information synchronization occurs and
informations are delayedly relayed.

Especially when it hit
the person sort-of in-charge.
The person who will be asked, indeed!

Even if that person is not me,
I will get mad.
Expecially when that person is me,
X-(
take a wild guess how I will react.

Thus will lead to:
internal cussing and
sudden urge to thrash things around.

Urgh! Yuuno is hiding.
He's a genius.
But I'm not mad at you, turtle dear.

I'm mad at myself.
For not being patient enough.
For being naive as to think people will be considerate.
Am I not considerate?
Perhaps not enough.

I'm also mad at Pipit.
Don't let me see you.
For my sake, I will not layan you.
At least, for now.

...
:(

Allah loves me, right?
He is testing me
especially on such night
(we have Anatomy spotting exam tomorrow)
so I'll remember Him
and all He is offering.

It's so hard!
But... I love Him.

Love hurts, eh?
And requires hell lot of sacrifices, no?
:((

4th Dec: Central London; Day Three

After dad gave me 100 pound to go shopping today amounting my pocket money to 152 pound, I set off for the bus towards Tower Bridge.

Yesterday was outdoor, today is partly indoor.

Yesterday was rainy, today is sunny.

Ye, saya sedang ketawa.

It wasn't even 9 am when I hopped off at Tower Bridge Road bus stop. Stores were closed and there I was, one macho traveller with her map out trying to figure out which way is the infamous Tower of London.

Thankfully there was this obscured road sign. I set off.

And walked up a pretty long road. Alone (no, not lonely) and cold.

Stopped when I saw silvers shining in the sun. Poked my nose around the local silverware yard sale.

Very beautiful and I'm sure mom would have appreciated the wares. I didn't buy anything though as I was antique illiterate.

Continued walking another long road towards Tower Bridge.

Too cold. Decided to be wise and took the bus.

And we were at Tower Bridge in a mere second.

Tower Bridge undergoing facelift

Three passengers stepped in. One looked like a Malay. He flashed his Oyster card, looked up and was that a smile?

Finally, a familiar face on the road.

Teringat Syaimaa. Smirked evilly.

Appreciated the River Thames scenery. Wah, tu Tower of London la!

Looked around. Now which stop should I get off?

Pandang belakang. Oh, budak Melayu itu sedang berdiri. Dia nak turun gak ke?

Segan la kalau bawak keluar peta depan dia. Biar dia turun dulu la.

Maka, I was the last person to exit the bus at that particular stop.

Turun slow-slow. Kamu, cepat le jalan.

To my unexpressed horror, he stalled and waited for me.

Argh, camne nak bawak keluar peta ni?!

Walked tentatively and looked up expectantly. Soalan pertama that came out with a charming smile, "Melayu ke?"

Tidak, ana orang Arab. "Ye." Sengih politely.

Seterusnya ke Tower of London. Mencari tempat duduk dan sms Syaimaa with evil girl glee. Oh yeah, shoot me.

Queen's House of the Tower of London

I regretted not entering since this historical fortress boasted a lot of genre, including horror that is my cup of tea.

Towers to explore, ravens to scare, treasures to uncover, executions to remember...

My loss.

Oh well, all the more reasons to come back again, eh? ;)

Saw London Bridge from afar. Apekah? Ia sekadar jambatan biasa?

Tak mau la pergi.

Moved on towards Britain at War Museum.

Britain at War Museum at Tooley St

Entrance to the underground bunker

Moved quickly through the underground bunker to make a dash towards the toilet. (again, remember yesterday?)

Enjoyed my time leafing through the World War 2 campaign.

Briton and Egyptian do have something in common;
there's no such thing as no time for tea

Roles of healthcare professionals during WW2

The sign said, 'Children are allowed to wear them.'
Tunggu ape lagi!~

Insincere will lead to loss of pahala and Allah's ignorance during the Day of Judgement.
So don't be too proud of yourself, Atiqah.

Everyone was in the war, ladies never excluded.

Children evacuated to less likely areas for an air raid; countryside, Canada etc

Entered the blitz. It was... odd. Agak menggerunkan. And this is just the recreation.

How are our brothers in the frontline of Palestine?

Walked out with my penny trampled into Britain at War souvernir.

Puas. Though I surmised Imperial War Museum might be a better catch.

Hihi... all the more reasons to come back!

Walked and saw a Halal sign. Oh, ayam goreng!~ Dah lama tak makan.

6 pound.

Berlalu pergi menunggu bas. Dasar makhluk kedekut.

Bersiar-siar di London Eye.

London Eye, the largest of it in Europe.
Only supported by an A-frame on one side.
Still, no one can challenge the pillar-less sky~

Movieum of London ada diskaun tiket 5 pound. Nak masuk ke? Of course not.

Heaps of jelly beans and marshmallows await!

Man, bad landing. My belt just ripped off...

Tanning in London

Walked across the River Thames via Millenium Bridge yang cantik.

I love the sky. It is uncomparable.
It further reminds me I am 24-7 under His mercy, literally.
Millenium Bridge is the spiky-poled one in front of London Eye,
build to commemorate the beginning of the new millenium (year 2000).

Mengejar burung merpati di Victoria Embankment Park on the way to Trafalgar Square.

A much peaceful oasis in Central London.
Statues erected here and there and pigeons everywhere!

Selak jam. Oh. Tidak.

Berkejaran berlari naik bas. Please, let me be at the hotel before dad comes back!

And run I did.

Berguling atas katil.

Ratah semua benda tu.

Papa balik. Dia ajak pergi balik Malaysia Hall. "Rasa dah lama tak makan nasi."

Ketawa. Kami naik bas lagi.

Dua bas je! Dan takde la lama sangat nak sampai; no intervals of shivering under the bus stop.

Mantap, tahniah kak!

"Bagus la, you're getting better than yesterday."

Hehe.

Kami makan nasi. Dan, "Akak, keropok lekor ada?"

"Ada."

":D Petang tadi masa saya datang, takde."

"Kami goreng lewat sikit hari ni."

:D :D :D Alhamdulillah~

Berturut makan. Bertuah betul.

Ke Oxford Street untuk membeli belah. Papa beli beg extra, haha.

Dan kembali ke hotel untuk packing barang.

---

Banyak lagi tempat tak pergi. Nak datang Hyde Park lagi. Sayangnya. Rindu la.

Summer bila-bila nanti, nak datang lagi... Next time, I'll bring lots of canned tuna.

And my business card. Yes. Expand your network, haha.

3rd Dec: Central London; Day Two

Edited 2238 hour, 121209: Now with photo descriptions.

"Nah duit belanja."

"..."

"Cukup ke?"

"Lebih sangat dari cukup ni, pa..."

"Nah amik duit shiling ni sekali."

"Terima kasih, pa."

Pocket money for today is 56 pound.

Walked papa to Institute of Child Health near Great Ormond St Hospital for Children and ran back to the hotel soon afterward for my glove. Today's weather was cloudy, maximum temperature of 8 degree with outbreaks of rain.

I overestimated my brown adipose tissue's ability, if I had any.

Finally arrived at the infamous Madam Tussauds Gallery.

Madam Tussauds Gallery and London Planetarium

Made acquaintance with Sherlock Holmes of Baker St.

Akak pelancong itu kacau daun la...

Ignored my measly half and bought a bus pass.

Safely arrived at Regent’s Park despite chaos for a public toilet.

Not quite sure why I decided for a Royal Parks of London tour today, since outdoor in the winter drizzle means harsh wind for the scarf-deprived traveller; bald trees, sparse flowery bushes and certainly no butterflies on the field for her to enjoy.

Regent's Park College in the background

Wild waterflow snogging around people for food.
Notice the murky sky~

Literally and figuratively walked in circle. Stopped elatedly in front of ZLS Zoo.

Remembered Kamilah quipped yesterday, "Ada ke datang London pergi Zoo?"

Passed by expressionlessly.

Amiable bushy squirrels

Park exit via Chalbert Bridge

The view of the open parkland was splendid nevertheless. Nothing less should be expected from Almighty Allah.

It’s Zohor. Let’s go to London Central Mosque!

Took the bus. Now where is it? It should be somewhere around here...

And we passed the mosque on our left.

Blinked. No prob, let’s pray at the Malaysia Hall.

Stopped at Lancaster Gate. Walked.

Ran whilst praying please let there be a public toilet near that Tube station!

After two futile stops for a much needed relief, I was back on the road.

Now where's that Malaysia Hall? I read yesterday that it is somewhere around whatsit Terrace, Bayswater.

After 10 minutes...

Okay, I admit loss. Was about to give up and went back hotel for praying when I saw this Malaysia flag all tangled up in Queensborough Terrace.

MSD, Malaysia Hall in London

Alhamdulillah, sampai! Tahniah tahniah.

Something caught me on the menu; Keropok lekor. Wah!

All lit up bursting with bliss.

5 pieces = 1 pound.

1 pound = 9 genih...

Ana syab3anah.

Headed to Kensington Gardens.

Near the Elfin Oak, I repeatedly ran away from this super-friendly dog along with shouts of “Don’t worry, he doesn’t bite!” by its mistress concerned for my sanity.

Was crestfallen when I was denied entry to the Diana Playground because I am not attending to any children.

Wished I brought Yuuno along. Sigh.

Wild waterfowls of the Round Pond pecking people for dinner

Physical Energy statue at the heart of Kensington Gardens

Temple something... haha I forgot

Skipped around Kensington Palace, the official residence of Princess Diana; just to name one of the many British monarch resided there.

Queen Victoria in front of her birthplace Kensington Palace

Crossed the Serpentine to reach Hyde Park.

Coordinated birds obediently sitting in a single file

Eh? What is this? Hyde Park Winter Wonderland?

Circus! Ferris wheel! Ice rink! Games! Candieeeees!

SERONOK NYE!!!

But it’s nearing Maghrib la.

Stared at the funfare from afar as my feet dragged me to the opposite direction from where my heart was leading, the ducks oblivious to my sorrow.

Perkampungan itik di Hyde Park

I’ll see if I can have my dad take me there tonight.

Socialized with the squirrels of Russell Square before heading back to base.

Learned facts about pasta from Chef Gino.
1- Sauce first, then pasta. Not otherwise.
Don't ask me why, I didn't get the chance to ask him.

2- Oil doesn't ensure the pasta doesn't stick together. Instead, use lots of boiling water. The bubbles help.

3- Dried herbs are rubbish. Throw them away. Use fresh ones instead.

4- Ducks go well with sweet flavour.

Jom tangkap itik kat Hyde Park!

Dad came back and suggested we dine at Malaysia Hall. “Baik, jom. Ika dah tahu camne nak ke sana.”

Enthusiastic; the political-liberal girl glittering with full confidence.

Three buses and one and half hour later, we reached Malaysia Hall.

-__-‘’ Well, at least now I know where King's College is.

“Kalau naik Tube, satu stesen terus sampai.” Papa smiled.

Haha :P~

We ordered two plates of kuey teow goreng and one teh tarik.

Milah, that's the teh tarik you asked for~
Though it is kurang pekat...

9 pound.

Of course, dad footed the bill. And I had to bite myself from converting to genih/ringgit at every transaction.

We ate, we're full. Unfortunately for me we didn’t go to Hyde Park that night.

Argh~

Reporting back to dad, today I:
-Knew the locations of public toilets across the town.
-Played with cute critters at park.
-Played with cute critters at park.
-Played with cute critters at park.
-Discovered Malaysia Hall.
-Learned about pastas.
-Became his tour guide.

Oh, as ever the exceptional animal activist.

26 Nov: Piramid

The Autobots helped rebuild them

“Pak Cik Nabil, which pyramid was used during
the battle in the second Transformers movie?”
*muka budak innocent*

“Huh? What movie is that?”
*muka pak cik guide tua yang keganjilan*

261109 – Akhirnya sampai piramid jugak budak ni…

Central London; Day One

Breakfast of mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and hash browns. English tea.

"Dad, can I have fried eggs?"

"It's better not to."

:(

We decided to walk to Trafalgar Square.

Nelson's Column and the lions, plus several historical figures standing tall on pliants. A symbol of democracy for this goo-ridden square is famous for political demonstrations and rallies.

Papa with Trafalgar Square in the background

If you're here for the John Woo-effect of pigeons taking flight, you might as well go to the nearby Victoria Embankment Gardens.

Why?

There were not more than a few fat pigeons trotting (yes, they trot. I chased them but they merely trot.) about the pavement.

Poor me was salivating for hammam mahsyi.

We walk further to Big Ben the iconic free-standing clock tower of Westminster and the adjoining Palaces of Westminster aka Houses of Parliament.

See London Eye, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament

Dad made acquaintance with the local policeman.

As expected from one of the centers for political life in London, a group of activists were protesting in front of it.

I was undeterred. Well, actually, I didn't get what their shoutouts were all about.

River Thames, London Eye and the London Aquarium, also housing the Movieum.

Realized Westminster Abbey is a complex of chapels. Where the kings were crowned, royal couples got married and monarchs were buried.

A reminder that religion is life itself.

Me and dad at the Westminster Abbey.
Erk, which entrance is it? Haha

Beautiful Victorian architecture, though.

Headed to St. James's Park and chased after the oldest of London Royal Parks' critter of squirrels collecting nuts for the winter.

Budak sesat

Grinned at wet maple leaves on the Birdcage Walk.

Converting papa to an avid animal activist hihi

Fat ducks reminded me of sweet sweet Peking Duck. Or Duck in Orange Sauce.

Reached Buckingham Palace the official British monarchs resident in London nicely at 11.30am.

Kamu! Bukak cepat!

The Change of Guards should commence by now.

11.40am and trotted along a group of horsemen.

I've always had this fling for marches...
Shiny black shoes and all they have to offer~

12.00pm and nothing else happened.

"Are they cancelling the Change of Guards?"

"The weather is wet, not very wet."

Took the Tube back to Russell Square.

Fixed a simple sandwich of chilli pepper tuna smuggled from Egypt. The avid carnivore was hungry for meat.

Dad crashed out of fatigue.

Now to humour Anatomy.

Lesson:
1- Hargailah setiap nikmat Allah.

2- Bawak daging dalam tin lain kali.

Always I Forget

This is for those who were pissed off by such trivial lessons in life.

You got through the day,
alhamdulillah.

No bones broken,
just dignity shattered.
Haha.

Be ikhlas in your intentions,
have pure heart,
which will reflect your cool facade.

Be wary of your time,
don't let it be wasted again.

Be patient,
or the lessons will continue
with increase in tolerance.
Trust me,
we've been through this for years!
See if you'll survive another.

So be patient,
Patient
Patient
PATIENT
You get the point, right?

Everyone has a bad day,
let's be cool with it.

And for everything it is,
Allah is there.
And ears are always around.

Please remember to
SMILE :)
I don't care if it's fake,
just don't look ill.

Cut back on those caffeine,
seriously.
Let's not live on drugs.

Learn from everything.
Yuuno is there for a reason, you know.

Don't get lost!
He needs you, he'll cry if you do :(

And He, too, is not going to abandon you.
Ever.

Oh, and Atiqah,

"In the end, everything will be okay.
If it's not okay, then it's not the end."

Enjoy the Winter Campaign

Jazakallah, Dr. Akef.

10th Nov : Musim Sejuk yang Panas

Hari ni saya telah ponteng kelas Dr. Sherif Zaky yang bermula jam 7.30 am semata-mata kerana nak perbaharui visa.

7.30 am sampai Mugamma'.

Raja dihalang masuk oleh pak guard. "At nine."

Sembilan? Bukan ke lapan biasanya dah bukak?

"Sa3ah tamaniah, ya3ni?"

"Aiwah, nine."

Rasa bangga sebab dia berusaha jugak untuk berbahasa asing. Tahniah.

Cop kene betul-betul atas nama!"

Merepek.

Dengan segera berlari dan berteksi ke universiti.

8.30 am di Syuun Tolabah. Kaunter yang berorang adalah kaunter tahun 1, 4 dan 6.

Pergi ke kaunter tahun 1. "Saya nak syahadah."

"Awak tahun berapa?"

"Tahun 2."

"Datang balik sejam nanti."

"Tak boleh ke saya amik borang kat sini?"

"Sejam lagi la, budak."

Merepek.

Tersenyum dengan muka tak puas hati dan study Biochem sekejap depan bangunan.

Sabar... sabar... sabar... Argh!

Masuk balik jam 8.45 am. Makcik kaunter tahun 2 dah muncul! Tahniah, tahniah.

Dia tengah sarapan. "Setengah jam lagi."

Merepek.

Tersengih dan menyeringai depan pintu masuk Syuun Tolabah. Mengulang kembali bacaan Mathurat.

Masuk balik jam 8.50 am.

Dihalau keluar balik.

"Awak nak apa?"

"Saya nak syahadah je." Tersenyum manis. "Je."

"Minta ngan makcik Hoda." Dan dilaungnya nama makcik Hoda banyak kali, sampai la berpaling makcik kaunter tahun 2 dari gosip hariannya.

Oh, nama makcik Hoda ke?

"Bagi la borang syahadah kat budak ni." Makcik di kaunter tahun 4 berkata dari seberang. "Dah lama budak ni kat sini."

Makcik Hoda dengan penuh lemah-gemalai menyerahkan borang syahadah beserta muka tak puas hati kepada saya.

Saya isi dengan segera.

Dah siap. Mana Makcik Hoda?

Pukul 9 am. Kelas Dr. Sherif dah habis.

Dibeleknya. "Nak kernih."

"Sila, sila."

Dibelek, dicakar ruang kosong dan disign borang syahadah saya.

"Nak gambar."

Huh? "Nah, sila."

Disteplernya dahi saya atas borang. Diserahkan kembali.

"Erk, saya nak cop jugak."

"Pergi kaunter tahun 1."

"Baik."

Dengan jurusnye saya ke kaunter sebelah.

"Pergi kaunter tahun 4." Makcik kaunter tu cakap.

Apekah? "Baik."

Menghadap makcik baik kaunter tahun 4 dengan sengihan kerang. "Makcik tu suruh saya datang sini untuk amik cop."

"Pergi balik kaunter tahun 1."

We are not playing pass-the-volatile-Atiqah here! "Ye, baik."

Menapak di kaunter tahun 1.

Kelihatan kelibat makcik yang membawa bersamanya cop-cop.

Saya segera hulur.

Dia tengok.

Saya belek.

"Makcik boleh copkan atas nama saya?"

"Tu atas nama la tu."

"Tak, nak yang betul-betul atas nama." Ceria sahaja nada suara yang meminta-minta itu.

"Budak-budak Malaysia ni kan..."

"Haha," Saya tersengih. "Terima kasih makcik. Moga Allah membanyakkan kebaikan atas makcik."

"Ye la."

Berlari ke kedai fotostat. Ramai orang. Berlari ke Maahad Ta'awun sebab kedai fotostat lain semuanya tutup.

Naik teksi ke Mugamma'.

Sekarang jam 9.30 am.

Terus ke kaunter dan hulur borang.

Makcik tu terus proses borang dengan efisien sekali.

Dia serah balik passport.

Saya tunggu jap.

Dia merenung. "Dah setel la. Awak nak apa lagi?"

Eh? Dah?? "Oh, terima kasih puan."

9.35 am keluar Mugamma'. Kelas seterusnya pukul 11.

Bermain-main sekejap.

"Tak." Tersengih lebar. "Mesti ada la tu, saya buat salah ngan sape kat mana-mana..."

Keluar rumah 10.50 am. Lari!

Lessons for today:
- Be patient.
- Sabar.
- Isbir.
- Plan and well-organize everything.
- Jangan ponteng kelas. Tak berkat.
- Al-akhdzu bil-asbab.

p/s: Saya paling benci semut. Ye, amat.

Kedua saya paling benci lalat.

Nama rumah kami Villa Raihan. Nama panjang Raihany.

Bilik saya agak besar.

Sila berusaha bersungguh-sungguh memeriahkan laman sekolah.

Kepada senior PRISMA, ana tertinggal draf kertas kerja dekat Malaysia. Haha, maaf :P I'll redraft and send it to you guys before the meeting.

Argh, lapar la pulak.

Kepada Kak Fathy, maaf sebab tak siapkan berita spekulasi bajet Gema Aidilfitri. Ditambah pula dengan faktor saya sudah pun menghabiskan menonton trilogi Pirates of the Carribeans dan James Bond lakonan Daniel Craig, maka saya sudah tidak bersemangat untuk menghadap komputer.

Skrol atas jap.

Banyak gile perkataan 'maka'.

Jika kalian ada masa, datanglah melawat. Sila bawak jus mangga bersama.

5hb dah mula kelas. Hebat kan? Sila doakan, ye.
