KPI 2: A Journey towards Amendment

We had our second installment of Kursus Pengenalan Islam for First Grade of Cairo just now. The hall was merely half-filled with participants, considering the event was held in the spacious Ain Shams University Conference Center.

It started late, as usual. Surely we need a good tadabbur of Surah Al-'Asr.

Proceeded with the recitation from ex-boss Akmal.

And the ever volatile person I was, I stared off space with watery eyes as he recited the last part of Surah Al-Furqan.

والذين لا يشهدون الزور واذا مروا باللغو مروا كراما
Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility,

they pass by it with honourable (avoidance).
(Al-Furqan : 72)

Ira, my dearest in Jordan, once pointed out the irrationality behind reacting to people's stupidity. Sadly, I've been against her advice lately.

I am so sorry.

Enough self-reproach; let's get down to business.

The first segment entitled Pengurusan Rohani dalam Kehidupan Pelajar Muslim saw the ustaz discussing the importance of rohaniyyah management, among other things.

The second segment, a much awaited topic of Kebejatan Sosial: Apa Peranan Kita? saw me losing focus. I listened to the recitation of Surah Al-Kahfi while browsing the net instead.

Such a genius, am I not? Urgh. My loss.

The third segment was a briefing with PERUBATAN's Unit Bait Muslim. Frankly speaking, I can't help smirking all through the segment.

It was relatively illuminating and I was really looking forward for some form-filling at that moment as my hands were itching already to write down the qualities I want in a spouse.

Alas, no forms to be filled.

I might as well write it down here. I'd like someone much more matured than me, please.

You have my consent to laugh.

Next was from Jabatan Keselamatan Sosial Islam [JAKSI]. I didn't really get what JAKSI was all about, until he said, "Turut dikenali sebagai Unit Hisbah."

Oh, the irony. Today seems to be the day of amelioration.

Either way, it was greatly helpful. I gained new insights on how things work in the Malaysian community in Egypt, thus enhancing my gratitude towards the lot.

Let's not be a pengkufur nikmat.

And remind me to send the unit a full-length email for consultation. I can't have those suddenly atrocious kids wielding their horny hands up our lives any longer.

There should be a limit to harassment.

Finally, we had an open debate on Kebejatan Sosial: Salah Siapa?. It was fun watching people devouring with enthusiastic speech, laid albeit not-so-carefully with facts.

I was with the Community team, so we ganged up to lay the blames on Parents and Individual.

Ellya was great! She synchronized our points and rebutted with style. Well, nothing least should be expected from her in the first place.

In the end, it's actually useless to blame anyone for whatever social problem we are faced with. We all have a part to play. So play them well.

Though I can't help but point out how greatly the situation is affected by one's ability to judge good from bad. "Seorang yang mantap pasti dapat memperoleh kebaikan walau dalam situasi seburuk mana sekali pun."

Abang Hafiz recorded the whole program on tape. Let see when we can grab a hold of one copy.

Overall, the program was highly informative with topics mostly covering our responsabilities in a community and how to memantapkan diri towards that goal.

It was also a good escape from Respiration.

Now I need to get back to my studies.

p/s: I've decided to write my blog my own way, instead of copy-pasting a dictionary. Hah.
